Complete a Good Work

As we celebrate the 4th of July this week, you may hear the phrase "the Founding Fathers." We use that term to talk about the men who started the country - had the idea, figured it out, did the work, and got things established and running. Of course they are no longer with us, but the country goes on. While we're not starting a country, we who are Fathers have started something - the lives of children. It is our responsibility to teach them; to give them a foundation for their Faith and life, that they too can continue on once we are no longer with them. They are our responsibility, but God has already done the hard part - He has saved them from sin just as He has saved us. We merely need to continue pointing them to him by word and example.

As you spend quiet time this week, thank God for our country and for your family. Ask God to give you strength to lead your family with His word, and know that He will be with you to finish what He has started...

6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
