It's deer season, and while bow hunting earlier this fall I learned one of those little "this is like life with God" lessons. I know that we can use scent, bait, decoys, grunts, rattles etc.. We can place trail cams and scout for sign and do lots of things to hope to get deer in range. But when it comes down to it, we can't MAKE them come. We especially can't make them come only when we're in the stand. The best we can do is to be there as much as we can and be ready when we're there, not reading, daydreaming, or sleeping :-) .
Life with God is like that. So often we want him to give us direction or blessing or help, but we want it on our terms and in our timing. Really we just need to be patient, available, and ready. We need to trust and watch for how He will work it out, not demand it according to our schedule. It's easy to get distracted and miss the ways God is trying to help us while we're trying tell Him what to do.
It's our daily time with God that renews us and helps us remain ready and see His will. In your time this week, even if it's in the woods, listen for God's way instead of telling him your way.
It will be good for those servants whose master finds them ready, even if he comes in the middle of the night or toward daybreak. Luke 12:38 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/luk.12.38.NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 NIV https://bible.com/bible/111/rom.12.2.NIV
