"So, what do you do?"
Especially for guys, this is most likely question number 1 after initial introductions in a social setting. (Unless the situation instead calls for "catch anything?")
But everyone tends to get caught up in "work = identity"
Some jobs even replace our names so we're simply known as Doctor, Pastor, Captain or Coach.
But our real identity lies in our actions, not our job. How we treat others, how we care for ourselves, how we lead our family. And as Christians our actions, our identity, should come out of our response to God's amazing and completely undeserved love for us. Remember God's grace and ask for his strength to answer that question in a way that shows your identity in Him
Follow Jesus Lead Your Family
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:8-10 NIV
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
1 Peter 2:9 NIV
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
John 13:35 NIV
